The Healing Power of Ocean Therapy
As a narrative therapist in the South Bay, I’ve found that some of the most powerful healing doesn’t happen in an office—it happens outside, by the ocean.
Ocean therapy blends traditional talk therapy with the natural calming effect of the sea. Whether we’re walking along the shoreline or sitting in the sand, the ocean becomes more than a setting—it becomes part of the process.
Why the Ocean?
It calms the nervous system. The rhythm of the waves, the salt air, and the open space help reduce anxiety and increase a sense of grounding.
It supports movement. Walking and talking can make emotions feel more manageable, especially for kids and teens.
It invites metaphor. The ocean reflects our emotional world—deep, ever-changing, and full of meaning.
It feels less intimidating. Many clients feel more relaxed and open outdoors, especially those new to therapy.
Who It Helps
I offer ocean-based sessions for veterinarians, first responders, kids, teens, and adults—anyone who feels overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected. Nature has a way of helping us return to ourselves.
If you’re curious about ocean therapy, I’d love to talk. Sometimes the first step is just showing up and letting the waves do a little of the work.
