Welcome to My Blog: A Space for Story, Healing, and Connection

Hi, and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is Abbey Vince, and I’m a narrative therapist based in the South Bay. I created this blog as a space to explore the many stories that shape our lives—stories about identity, caregiving, childhood, purpose, burnout, healing, and everything in between. Whether you're a veterinarian, a first responder, a parent, or simply someone trying to navigate life’s challenges, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates.

Why a Blog?

As a therapist, I believe that words hold power—especially the words we use to tell our own stories. This blog is an extension of my therapy practice, a place where I can share insights, reflections, and tools that I’ve found meaningful in my work with clients of all ages and walks of life. It's not meant to replace therapy, but to offer support, encouragement, and a sense of connection.

Who I Work With:

My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens in relationship—with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. I specialize in working with:

  • Veterinarians and animal care professionals who often carry the invisible emotional toll of their work

  • First responders who experience high levels of stress, trauma, and pressure in their day-to-day service

  • Children and adolescents** navigating the complexities of growing up, identity, and emotional regulation

  • Anyone seeking a deeper connection to their own story and a greater sense of calm and clarity**

The Power of Ocean Therapy

One of the most unique parts of my practice is integrating **ocean-based therapy** into sessions. Whether it's walking along the shoreline, engaging in grounding exercises in nature, or simply breathing beside the waves, the ocean has a remarkable ability to regulate the nervous system and invite a different kind of reflection. It’s a natural, spacious setting where people often feel freer to speak, feel, and simply be.

What You’ll Find Here:

  • Reflections on mental health and emotional well-being**

  • Thoughts on the unique emotional needs of caregivers and helpers**

  • Insights into working with children and teens**

  • Stories about first responders, veterinarians, and the often unseen weight they carry

  • Tools for self-reflection, nervous system support, and self-compassion

  • Explorations of nature- and ocean-based therapeutic practices

  • Occasional personal musings about dogs, parenting, and life in the South Bay

Whether you're here out of curiosity, in need of support, or just looking for something thoughtful to read, thank you for visiting. I hope you’ll stay, explore, and maybe even start to rewrite a part of your own story.

Warmly,

Abbey Vince, AMFT
