Sports Therapy

Whether you're recovering from injury, navigating burnout, or feeling blocked in your sport, I bring both personal experience and professional tools to help you move forward.

My Story – From Athlete to Therapist

My journey in sport started early — in competitive swimming at age 2 and triathlons by age 9. I grew up immersed in movement, competing in nearly every sport, including cross country, swimming, and track.

But at 16, everything changed. A chronic back injury ended my career in triathlons and sent me into a deep mental and emotional struggle. The loss of identity, the pressure to recover, and the confusion of where to go next — I lived it.

In my 20s, I found healing and new purpose through surf lifesaving and surf ski racing, which I now compete in at national and international levels. Living the athlete life while navigating mental health challenges taught me one of the most important truths:

Performance isn't just physical. It's mental. It's emotional. It's personal.

And now, I help other athletes — from kids to professionals — work through these same challenges and rediscover their power.

What is Sports Talk Therapy?

Sports Talk Therapy is a space for athletes to explore the mental and emotional side of performance, injury, pressure, burnout, and identity. I combine my lived experience as a lifelong athlete with clinical tools to help you:

  • Process the grief or fear after a career-changing injury

  • Navigate burnout or performance anxiety

  • Work through identity loss or transitions (e.g. retirement or injury recovery)

  • Rebuild confidence after traumatic events (like crashes, falls, or failures)

  • Set short-term and long-term goals that feel motivating, not overwhelming

  • Reconnect with the love of sport — or find a new path entirely

My practice is grounded in a warm, humanistic approach — you're not just an athlete to me, you're a whole person. Every story is welcome here, and together we’ll find where yours feels stuck and where it can grow.

I use:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
For trauma around injury, crashes, or emotionally intense moments that continue to hold you back from returning or progressing in your sport.

Narrative Therapy
To help you reframe your experience — understanding the meaning of your athletic journey and building an alternative story aligned with your goals.

Goal-Oriented Coaching
Combining therapy with short-term tangible goals and long-term dreams, to help you feel progress and clarity — mentally and physically.

Who I Work With

You don’t need to be a pro to feel the pressure. I work with:

  • Young athletes navigating competition and school

  • Collegiate and professional athletes under performance stress

  • Injured athletes facing recovery and identity shifts

  • Retired athletes looking for what's next

  • Active individuals who just want support balancing life and sport

  • Individuals interested in pursuing an active lifestyle.

No matter your level or story, you're welcome here.

Still in the Arena-I Still Compete — I Get It.

I continue to train and compete nationally and internationally in surf lifesaving and surf ski racing. I know the pressure, the balance, the early mornings, the sacrifices — and the joy. Therapy doesn’t come from a textbook here. It comes from someone who still lives and breathes the athlete life.

Let’s work together.
